Rail Corridor


The Rail Corridor is an old railway line that stretches 24km from northern to southern part of Singapore. The upcoming Woodlands North Coast and Greater Southern Waterfront areas will be linked by via this trans-island green artery.

Now it shall be a “green corridor” that will be transformed into a huge community space linking up to 1 million people within this 1km of the Rail Corridor. When the Rail Corridor completes by 2021, it will definitely spur up the development of surrounding lands and rejuvenate the older districts.

New Gateways into Nature & Heritage Attractions

Completing this exciting Coast-to-Coast trail, Rifle Range Nature Park and the Rail Corridor will definitely bring about rejuvenation of the former Bukit Timah Fire Station and Beauty World as gateways into the surrounding nature and heritage attractions. The public will also look forward to the opening of the Hume MRT Station nearby along Downtown Line to access these attractions.

The former railway line shall connect communities and inject new life and excitement into old mature neighboring estates such as Buona Vista, Queenstown, Beauty World and Kranji.  Enhancement works on the 4 km stretch of the Rail Corridor between Hillview Avenue and the Bukit Timah Railway Station are underway and slated to complete in 2021. Trail improvement works are also being carried out for visitors to enjoy seamless connectivity, according to proposals under the Draft Master Plan 2019 by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
